Terms & Conditions

“Take Your Lead” means Jane Stockwell trading as “Take Your Lead”.

  1. NO DOG will be accepted for home boarding if it has or has had an aggression problems with people or other animals
  2. Your dog must not be on the dangerous dogs act list or classed as a dangerous breed.
  3. Your dog is required to be microchipped as required by law.
  4. The client confirms that their dog’s(s) vaccinations are up to date (original documented proof required prior to first visit), and free from any infections or diseases.
  5. We reserve the right to administer First Aid if we deem it necessary.
  6. We reserve the right to refuse any dog that we consider to be of an unreliable temperament, showing aggression, is very unruly or badly behaved, is not safe with farm animals, or in the case of dog walking, too sick to go out.
  7. Any current or ongoing problems with a dog’s health or temperament must be notified to us at the time of booking.
  8. Males must be neutered (unless under 10 months old) and females cannot be in season. You will need to be prepared to make alternative arrangements if your female will be coming into season around the time of her stay.
  9. The client confirms that their dog(s) has been recently and is regularly de-wormed and checked for fleas and ticks, as appropriate. Should any dog(s) on arrival require treatment for internal or external parasites (fleas, worms etc), then a charge will be levied for this.
  10. Kennel Cough is caused by an airborne infection and thus outside the control of Take Your Lead. Take Your Lead will never knowingly accept a dog with the condition, but as incubation can exceed 10 days it may not be detectable prior to arrival. THE OWNER therefore accepts that this hazard exists, especially at busy times. We recommend vaccination Kennel Cough Vaccination before your dogs stay, but as this is a virus very like the common cold and there are many strains, please be aware that your dog may still be vulnerable.
  11. Your dog must wear an identity tag but home boarding I will put my own ‘Take Your Lead’ ID Tags on your dog(s) collar.
  12. Any current or ongoing problems with a dog’s health or temperament must be notified to us at the time of booking.
  13. Take Your Lead is covered by business public liability insurance. Insurance does not cover any costs that may be incurred, either veterinary or other as a result of sickness, accident or damage caused to or by any guest dog.
  14. It is recommended but not essential that client’s take out their own veterinary insurance and leave policy details on record.
  15. Photos taken during your dog/s stay maybe used on our website or social media sites. Please let indicate on the booking form if you consent to this.
  16. If you wish your dog to be walked off lead then you are required to sign the off lead permission form.
  17. In case of emergency (ie. van breakdown) Take Your Lead may call upon another dog walker to transport your dog to a place of safety or if needed to the vets.

VETERINARY DETAILS

  1. Take Your Lead will try and see your requested vet, but due to distance, time and type of emergency Take Your Lead will take your dog to the nearest vet.
  2. Permission for your veterinary surgery to disclose any information in the event of an accident or illness must be given. Please inform your vet of your permission.
  3. Should it be necessary, at our discretion, for a vet to be called for any health condition, all fees Incurred are the responsibility of the owner.
  4. The client confirms their consent to Take Your Lead consulting a veterinary surgeon should she in her reasonable opinion consider it necessary for the wellbeing of your dog, and to her acting upon the advice of the Veterinary Surgeon in the event that you or your contact are not available.
  5. We reserve the right to administer First Aid if we deem it necessary.
  6. Death - This is a distressing subject and thankfully something we have not ever had to deal with, however it needs to be addressed. In the unlikely event that your dog sadly passes away while in our care, we will notify you as soon as possible and will then take your pet to your usual vet (or my vet if yours is out of area) until you decide what arrangements you wish to make. We will also report it to the local Council/Dog Warden. We strongly recommend you have a post mortem to identify the cause of death as it helps everyone involved to have answers at this really difficult time but of course, this is your choice.

DOG WALKING

  1. Walks cancelled on the day of the walk before 10am will not be charged. If the required notice is not given charges will be applied in full for the cancelled period.
  2. If Take Your Lead cannot access your gate/door (due to key not working or key in other side) then you will be charged at your usual rate.
  3. All dogs being exercised must be fully vaccinated and on a regular flea and worm control regime.
  4. All dogs being walked will undergo a trial period to ensure that they are adequately trained and socialised.
  5. Take Your Lead reserves the right to cancel the contract at any time & with immediate effect if the dog does not respond well to the walker and/or other dogs.
  6. All dogs will be exercised on a lead unless the ‘Off Lead Agreement’ has been signed and dated.
  7. Take Your Lead will apply personal judgment and cut short a walk if necessary because of extreme weather conditions (ie, heat, thunderstorms) for the safety of both the dogs and the walker. During spells of very hot weather, walks will be carried earlier but you will be notified on the day before or day.
  8. Clients must provide a towel by the door for drying dogs after the walk so that Take Your Lead can leave the dog as dry as reasonable. Clients are responsible for restricting their dog’s access within their house particularly when it is likely the dog could be dirty and wet. Take Your Lead cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by the dog in its own household.
  9. Take Your Lead accepts no responsibility or liability for the security of the Client's property or premises, or any loss or damage which maybe sustained as the result of action taken by third parties who also have access to the client's property or premises either before, during or after expiry of this agreement.

HOME BOARDING

  1. Home Boarding is charged at £25 per day per dog. £40 for 2 dogs.
  2. A non refundable deposit of £50 is required to confirm booking. The £50 deposit fee will come off your dog’s stay.
  3. Christmas day and boxing day is charged at triple time and bank holidays are charged as double time.
  4. Any medication provided by you must be clearly labelled and include detailed administration instructions. We will ensure that medication is stored safely.
  5. If your pet becomes ill whilst in our care and our veterinary surgeon thinks the pet illness may be contagious Take Your Lead may contact you and ask that your emergency contact provided will take the pet into their care. The Client will have agreed this with their chosen emergency contact before the pet comes into Take Your Lead care.
  6. Your dog must be house trained.
  7. If your dog/s behaviour becomes uncontrollable, destructive or aggressive then they will be placed with your emergency contact, or in a dog boarding kennel until you return, at your cost.
  8. Your dog will be boarded with Take Your Lead’s dogs and other dogs being boarded at the time.
  9. You must notify Take Your Lead of cancellation of home boarding by text (07753 341578) or email.
  10. You must provide all items necessary for pets to be adequately cared for in your absence (ie food, medication etc). Should pets require any additional supplies then these will be purchased and charged accordingly.
  11. In the event of failure by the owner to collect your dog then we will phone emergency contact. If no contact for 24 hours then we will act upon the advice of the Dog Warden.
  12. The person you name as your contact should be someone that you trust to take full responsibility for your dogs welfare in the event of an incident of any kind preventing your dog from completing its stay.
  13. If you collect your dog before the confirmed end date of the board you will not receive a refund.
  14. If your dog causes damage to Take Your Lead’s home or belonging, other than reasonable wear and tear, you agree to reimburse any reasonable cost incurred by the carer in this event.

All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions. Submission of a booking form constitutes acceptance of these terms and your continued use of our service will indicate your acceptance of the terms in force each time you use our service.
